Discover hormonal imbalances, low energy causes, reasons for weight loss resistance, sleep problems, and more
Lab testing is a great way to discover hidden internal stressors that are at the root cause of your symptoms. Our program uses functional saliva, stool, urine, and blood testing to identify healing opportunities—especially within the hormonal, immune, digestive, detoxification, and intestinal barrier systems. The benefits are immense—increased energy, stronger immune function, balanced hormones, slowing down of the aging process, elimination of symptoms, and much more.

The purpose of testing is to uncover any possible dysfunctions and HIDDEN (Hormone, Immune, Digestion, Detoxification, Energy Production, and Nervous System) stressors that are affecting your health. Once these are eliminated and function of various systems optimized, we have very reasonable expectations that things will improve and clients’ symptoms decrease or disappear. Our goal is not to treat symptoms or diagnose health issues; our primary focus is on recognizing what is not optimally working within the body and creating healing opportunities. Labs also help in determining whether any supplements are warranted.
Common health issues that might improve as a result of our protocols are:
I usually do a minimum of three basic tests to start with, which give me a lot of information on what might be happening with a client and what the sources of client’s complaints might be. At that time, I might recommend doing additional tests if the results of the initial tests show an indication to do so. If a client’s condition and symptoms are very severe, I may recommend doing additional tests right away to make sure we have a better picture as soon as possible. Sometimes, a need for further referral, to a medical doctor or an alternative practitioner, may be warranted and necessary.
Functional Adrenal Stress Profile (BH205 plus V) – saliva – hormonal balance is essential to good health, and the adrenal glands are at center stage in relation to the body’s ability to regulate hormones. The BH205 involves a simple collection of four saliva samples over the course of a day. This test is used to evaluate the impact of chronic stress on endocrine function by measuring bioactive hormones. Your FDN practitioner will interpret the results and guide you through lifestyle modifications and therapies to restore adrenal function and balance your hormones levels. The BH205 test will shine a light on possible environmental, external, and internal stressors contributing to your most troubling health complaints. (BioHealth Diagnostics)
Metabolic Assessment Profile (BH101) – urine – measures the dysfunctional protein digestion, oxidative cellular damage, and liver function and detoxification capacity. The BH101 involves a single urine sample that allows your FDN Practitioner to analyze levels of indican, lipid peroxides, and urinary bile acid sulfates (UBAS) in the urine. This test supplies critical data regarding digestion, metabolism, oxidative stress, and liver function that can be used to help clients improve health and function. The results of this test give your FDN Practitioner a good window into several essential functions of the body. Your practitioner may recommend a healing protocol that includes anti-oxidant supplementation, liver cleansing and support, digestive support, and lifestyle modifications. (BioHealth Diagnostics)
Intestinal Permeability Assessment (Genova) – urine – healthy function of the intestinal barrier is essential to disease prevention and overall optimal health. Being on the front lines in defending the body, the mucosal layer, which is the surface barrier of the GI tract, can be exposed to a multitude of stressors, antigens, pathogens, imbalances of neurotransmitters, toxins, and medications. These can weaken and break down the protective barrier.
Even if you eat the most nutrient-dense diet on the planet, if you cannot properly break down, absorb, and assimilate the nutrients, you will remain malnourished and become ill. Additionally, the gut is sometimes referred to as the second brain, and dysfunction or dysbiosis of the gut can often be at the root of hormonal imbalances, depression, and anxiety. The Intestinal Permeability Assessment is a simple urine test that directly measures the ability of two non-metabolized sugar molecules to permeate the intestinal mucosa.
This test gives your FDN practitioner a good understanding how what is going on inside your gut, what imbalances are present, and what healing opportunities can be employed. If your gut is not properly functioning, you will never truly be well.
The above three “flagship” labs are important because they address the function of fundamental systems of the body including the liver, hormonal system, gut, and digestive system. If any one of these systems is malfunctioning, a cascade of health issues can arise causing a myriad of symptoms and states of disease. This is what we mean by getting to the root!
Intestinal Antigenic Permeability Screen – (Array 2) – blood – a great test to see if “leaky gut” is present. “Leaky gut” has been shown to cause a variety of symptoms, including food sensitivities—blood. This is the most comprehensive test available for permeability. This is a more comprehensive (and slightly more expensive) option to Genova Intestinal Permeability Assessment test listed above. (Cyrex Labs)
Wheat/Gluten Proteome Reactivity & Autoimmunity – (Array 3) – blood – a very advanced, comprehensive test looking at various protein components of gluten. (Cyrex Labs)
Gluten-Associated Cross-Reactive Foods and Foods Sensitivity – (Array 4) – blood – if a client has gluten sensitivity this is a good test to see what other foods one is cross-reacting to. There is a specific group of foods that your body often mistakes for gluten (due to the similarity in the molecular structure) and which should be avoided in case of gluten sensitivity. (Cyrex Labs)
GI Effects Comprehensive Stool Profile – 2200 – stool – excellent stool testing for GI pathogens and additional markers that may be clinically useful (Genova)
Available add-on tests to Profile 2200: Clostridium Difficile EIA, Escherichia Coli EIA, Helicobacter Pylori EIA, Campylobacter.
SIBO Breath Test (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) – breath sample – breath test to evaluate Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (Commonwealth Laboratories)
IgG Food sensitivity Test – 96 items (Dry Blood Spot or Serum)
Comprehensive Urinary Metabolic Profile + Environmental Pollutant Profile – (Dip ‘N Dry Urine collection strip) – the UMP is an Organic Acid Test. The UMP provides quantitative measurement of 36 metabolically derived organic acids from cellular energy production and detoxification, neurotransmitter degradation, and intestinal microbial activity. The EPP quantifies exposure to aromatic solvents, paraben, and phthalates. (US Bio Tek Laboratories)
BloodPrint 115 (serum)
BloodPrint 154 (serum) – excellent IgG “delayed” sensitivities test for 115 or 154 common foods. Reflex testing of subfractions available. You can also easily add additional allergy testing for molds and inhalants, etc. (ImmunoLabs)
Thyroid Panel IV – blood – includes free Triiodothyronine, free Thyroxine, Thyroid Stimulating Hormone, Thyroid Peroxidase IgG, Thyroglobulin Ab IgG, T3 Reverse (Excellent thyroid function and thyroid autoimmune [Hashimoto’s] test) – (Pharmasan)
Fecal Metals Analysis of elements in feces provides indirect information about the potential for toxic metal burden. For many toxic metals, fecal (biliary) excretion is the primary natural route of elimination from the body. Fecal elemental analysis also provides a direct indication of dietary exposure to toxic metals. Specimen collection is convenient for the patient and only requires a single-step procedure. (Doctors Data)
Urine Toxic Elements Urine toxic and essential elements analysis is an invaluable tool for the assessment of retention of toxic metals in the body and the status of essential nutrient elements. Toxic metals do not have any useful physiological function, adversely affect virtually every organ system and disrupt the homeostasis of nutrient elements. (Doctors Data)
Immunoserology of Lyme Panel A & B (Panel B includes Western Blot test) (ImmunoSciences Lab, inc.)
HTMA Trace Elements – hair mineral and heavy metal analysis
Other tests: delayed sensitivity for foods, molds, inhalants, etc.
